    The Key Link in Modern Poetic Language:Metaphor & Metonymy

    The human life is saturated with metaphors, of which the most creative ones undoubtedly come from poems. The prominent practices of contemporary poetic language, by which the article means the metaphorical and metonymical linguistic events, benefit a lot from the structuralistic principle of Signifier/Signified and choosing/grouping. By casting light on the case of Jian Zheng-zhen, the famous Taiwan middle generation poet, this article tries to certificate those ideas as follows. Metaphor is founded on identity and analogy while metonymy is constructed on the base of adjacency and proximity. Besides, that both of them follow “the principle of reciprocity”, coordinated in a way of exchanging, interpenetrating and interacting, and participate in every poetic event. In the tribe of contemporary poetic language, the poets always operate on these intensive pivots mentioned above, in order to organize every member of this tribe.

With joint efforts of the 3rd Generation poets and their prolocutors,the various anthologies of the 3rd Generation poems appeared,which gave continued encouragernent and support to the development of the 3rd Generation poems.The anthologies not only created a large poet group,put up the noble image of the 3rd Generation poem,but also established its position in the literature history,which affected the later heat to research the 3rd Generation poems and the narrative tendency that to overstating the position of the 3rd Generation Poems in the literature history.

    As we all know, French Symbolist poet Valery affected modern Chinese poet Bian Zhilin’s poetry writing , but for a long time, research on their relationship was mostly placed under the background of the impact of French Symbolism on Modern Chinese Poetry, and rarely with their text dialogue directly as two individuals . In fact, Bian Zhilin’s translation of Valery is an important way to accept his impact . Comparing the works of both of them ,we can research the influence from Valery to Bian Zhilin’s poetry writing , including the poetry thought(“crystalline” attitude, intellectual character, meta-poetry consciousness ), the art of poetry (“image group” overlapping, the use of metrical verse style, attention to poetry art ) , and to make a more comprehensive exposition of the inheritance and development of Bian Zhilin to Valery.

    Xiaogu shi fuchuang is a sentence in the current version of Chinese classical poetry A Poem for JIAO Zhong qing’s Wife. The interpretations to fuchuang vary,and many far-fetched opinions say that fuchuang means to be about 10 years old. Fuchuang has been found in the Buddhist scriptures of Southern Dynasties,which after the bed shape changed caused by cultural exchange.The study found that Fuchuang has experienced a process of evolution of meanings:the original meaning of leaning on the bed, learning to walk with bed’s surport and then refers to be young. From the version history, the sentence Xiaogu shi fuchuang may not exist in the original version, but from Gu Kuang’s Deserted Wife.Xiaogu shi fuchuang should not be interpreted as the girl be about ten years old, which actually refers to her young.

    The Academic research to local order changes in the early Republic of China offen starts from the dual pattern of that from the national (official rule) to Gentry (autonomous) ,which consider the process as a single evolutionary process that the gentry gradually replaced the country’s . However, the traditional local internal differences in the process is often neglected. In the early Republic of China, Hubei Xianfeng continuated the zoning pattern ”four inside and outside“ formed in early Qing Dynasty,and this difference expanded to the dual centers opposite of religious and political .

    Guo Moruo’s lyric poetry, represented by Goddes, was the distinguished achievement of Chinese modern poetry. Many factors have made influences on it, among which Qu Yuan and Whitman are the most important ones. As for Qu Yuan, his cosmology and gender narrative has a direct impact on the imagination and lyrical composition of Guo Moruo’s Goddess.The same time, the “lyrical self” in Guo Moruo’s Goddess is extremely “ of Whitman” in a way .Qu Yuan and Whitman ’s impact helped Guo Moruo vividly demonstrated his unique lyric, and also was his limitation.

    Zhu Yingdan insisted on writing but long-neglected, few works published, so the research data about Zhu Yingdan is relatively little for now. The existing research articles on Zhu Yingdan’s poetic style generally concentrated in such two directions:first, following Fei Ming , to believe that Zhu Yingdan’s new poetry completely tends to classical, irrelevant to Western literature; another even more tends to think that he was affected by Western literature, especially by symbolism, and formed the aesthetic quality of a classic and modern intertextuality. Further study the research data about Zhu Yingdan since 1940, we can give a brief description of Zhu Yingdan’s writing and works publishing, and discuss on the status of research, the reason of long-neglected and the research prospects.

    Besides the image of perfect modern women, Ling long constructed a negative image of men and condemned them severely. Dominated by the oppression/resistance logic of female discourse, men were constructed as an abuser and women rebelled against men through their discourse carnival. However, discourse carnival cannot solve the realistic problems which women faced. The construction of negative male image of Ling long revealed the complex attitudes when metropolis female in the face of men during 1930s, as well as the dilemma they faced when they sought for independence under the stimulation of consumption, mass media and foreign culture.

    The novels in Ming and Qing Dynasties are the most important step in the novel history of ancient China. Research for the classification began from History of Chinese Fiction by Lu Xun. Compare the classification of novels in Ming and Qing Dynasties in such books like History of Chinese Fiction by Lu Xun, History of Chinese Literature by Yuan Xingpei and Fictional History of the Ming and Qing Dynasties by Tan Banghe ,we can find out that they have their advantages, but also have their deficiencies.According to the results of previous studies,we can try to build up a new way of classification to the novels in Ming and Qing Dynasties,which may be more reasonable.

    The word Tao-Yao was originated from The Book of Songs. The prototype meaning of the word when created was “beauty of blooming peach blossom”. The meaning evolved however to “marriage of female” in books of Yuan Dynasty. On researching the meaning of the word in books from Tang to Qing Dynasty, the paper analyses the evolution of the word meaning on the base of Cognitive Psychology as well as the schema and metaphor theories.From the view of cognitive schemata, we can see that the reason of this meaning evolution is that schemata of the word Tao-Yao comes from people’s repeated experience , and through metaphor mechanisms, the edge significance “marriage of female”gradually came to the center, and finally replaced the original prototype meaning.
