Qu Yuan and Whitman:Lyric Form,Power and Limitation of Guo Moruo’s Goddess

Abstract: Guo Moruo’s lyric poetry, represented by Goddes, was the distinguished achievement of Chinese modern poetry. Many factors have made influences on it, among which Qu Yuan and Whitman are the most important ones. As for Qu Yuan, his cosmology and gender narrative has a direct impact on the imagination and lyrical composition of Guo Moruo’s Goddess.The same time, the “lyrical self” in Guo Moruo’s Goddess is extremely “ of Whitman” in a way .Qu Yuan and Whitman ’s impact helped Guo Moruo vividly demonstrated his unique lyric, and also was his limitation.
