Comparison between Introductions of Story-telling Scripts of Song-Yuan and Ming Dynasties

The introductions of story-telling scripts are usually in the forms of poems, comments and short stories. With the transition of the story-telling scripts from Song-Yuan dynasties to Ming Dynasty, the literary forms are more completed and standardized, especially in the introductions, which strengthen the association of themselves with the texts, reduce voluntariness and emphasize sense of educating responsibility of the writers.

“Model Beijing Opera” Narration: Female Revolution Myth in Meditation Light of “the Other”
    PENG Song-qiao
    JIANGHAN ACADEMIC    2004, 23 (1): 43-47.
    Abstract591)      PDF (1335KB)(987)       Save
Viewing from the angle of feminism, “model Beijing opera” is undoubtedly a rare other-kind version of bisex discourse confrontation in human history of civilization. Most “model Beijing opera” had females as protagonists or main heroic figures. But they lacked in them the proper sex tinge of genuine females. Though this female revolution myth superficially changed the sabordinate status of females, yet it didn’t alter the historical destiny of females as “the other”. Revolution emancipated females in form, and then, by means of “desexualization” and “making them Hua Mulans” re-restrictedthem, in the name of “revolution”, in man-right discourse. This mode of “model Beijing opera” narration unconsciously hid male discourse hegemony in itsseemingly revolutionary speech to elevate females.

Study on Focus of Interrogatives in Modern Chinese

There are focuses in all yes-or-no questions, but some focuses are difficult to be found without context. If there is only one wh-word in wh-questions, there will be one focus. If more than one, there will be more. And these focuses can be coordinate. In positive and negative questions, the focus always lies in ‘positive X negative X’. In alternative questions, the focus can be a constituent in the clause, and sometimes also the whole clause. If a wh-word is embedded into a special construction, it will be de-focused and the construction will not convey question any longer.

Inspirations of Amartya Sen’s Theory of Poverty and Its Methodology
    REN Fuxin
    JIANGHAN ACADEMIC    2018, 37 (1): 94-100.   DOI: 10.16388/j.cnki.cn42-1843/c.2018.01.012
    Abstract1581)      PDF (1580KB)(687)       Save
Putting aside the traditional supply-demand model in the study of poverty, Amartya Sen, based on empirical study, put forward his entitlement theory and defines poverty as the result of entitlement failure rather than just insufficient income. In his Poverty and Famine, he used the entitlement method to study hunger and poverty, but this approach was still confined within the economic field. He then put forward the view of ethical development——“development as freedom”. This view, from the actual freedom people have, uses“feasible capabilities”to measure human development, paying attention to the wellbeing of the people at the bottom of the society. Sen’s theory has opened the multidimensional perspective of research on poverty and it has strong practical significance to solving China’s property problem.

An Economic Review of Option,Poverty Alleviation Through Marriage and Blind Date
    YAN Bo,CHENG Fei
    JIANGHAN ACADEMIC    2019, 38 (4): 82-90.   DOI: 10.16388/j.cnki.cn42-1843/c.2019.04.009
    Abstract589)      PDF (1521KB)(670)       Save
Blind date is an act of mutual interest choice of both parties and most people tend to adopt a“looking upward”strategy. Blind dating, similar to buying a call option, presents five different situations:1.“follow the man you marry,be he fowl or cur”;2. be a live-in son-in-law;3. merge materials and properties of the two sides;4. seek spiritual blending;5. expect a marriage to alleviate poverty. The changes of family and social structures can be clearly seen from the blind-date perspective. Blind date, urban spatial agglomeration, and urban development are closely related to one another. The urban space and population aggregation propels the continuous increase of families ‘ living cost, and blind date further expands the cost and will reduce families’index of happiness. Blind-date economy is totally different from the market economy;the market economy can be optimized through resource adjustment by an“invisible hand”while the blind-date economy does not have such a hand to do so. Freedom to choose one‘s spouse, involvement of relatives or friends, and blind date are three different forces that can manipulate marriage and matchmaking behaviors during China’s urban and rural economic development process and the blind-date economy is more an endogenous variable.
