Abstract: “yiyue”meanings are collected in Jiyun and Leipian.They are the important resources to study Chinese vulgar characters. Borrow, extension, Tongjia are important sources for producing “yiyue” meaning.People in Song Dynasty realized the systematic character of meaning which was reflected by JiYun and Leipian. “Yiyue” was used to differ the original meaning from extended meaning, and to show the difference between the original meaning and borrow meaning.
