Curative Effect of Internal Fixation Combined Anti-Osteoporosis Medicine on Distal Radius Fractures in Aged Patients

Abstract: Objective To observe clinical curative effect of radial distal locking compression plate(LCP)combined anti-osteoporosis medicine on treatment of senile osteoporosis distal radius fractures.Methods In April,2010 to April,2015 in the department of orthopedics in the 457th Hospital of PLA, 90 cases of elderly patients with osteoporotic fracture of the distal radius were retrospective analysed, including 45 cases treated with LCP + anti- osteoporosis medicine(experimental group), 45 cases treated with LCP alone(control group). The fracture healing time, the fracture bone mineral density(BMD)values and the joint function assessment were comparatively analysed. Results 90 patients all have been followed up, with an average follow-up time of 16. 5 months. The fracture healing time of the experimental group(10. 5 ± 1. 4)weeks was less than that of the control group(14. 3 ± 2. 1)weeks;according to the Gartland - Werley wrist joint function score, the excellent rate of the experimental group was 93. 3% and that of the control group was 88. 8%, the efficacy differences were not statistically significant( P >0. 05). Preoperative BMD in the experimental group was(0. 618+0. 105)g/cm2, post?operative medication for three months was(0. 680+0. 092)g/cm2, BMD values increased significantly, the differences were statistically significant( P <0. 05);preoperative BMD in the control group was(0. 621+ 0. 085)g/cm2, postoperative three months was(0. 627+0. 089)g/cm2, the differences were not statistically significant( P >0. 05 ). ObjectiveConclusion Compared with pure LCP treatment, the LCP combined anti-osteoporosis medicine in treatment of senile osteoporotic distal radius fractures has reliable fixation, the fracture healing time is short, the curative effect is distinct, the method combined with positive rehabilitation exercise timely is applicable for treatment of such fractures.
