“De” is most frequently used word in Chinese. In Chinese grammar, more than ten items of its usage have been concluded, even though the conclusion is not very correct. The correct use of “de” depends on the language rhythm in many contexts. In teaching, students’ sense should be activated. Xu Zhimo’s “Bye to Cambridge Again” can be used to make students sense its usage, because the poem is with strong rhythm. By reciting the poem, the language sense of the usage of “de” can be cultivated to make the students know its usage. Chinese is a language with noteworthy literariness, reflection of which can be examined in its phonetic musicality, grammatical flexibility, word infection, multi-layers in syntactic connotation, and in taking euphemism as aesthetic inclination. To master it needs to incent language sensibility, not cognitive ability only.

Topic about “humanity” is always an important theme for literary criticism and aesthetics, but in the discussions in the past, humanistic “life-orientation” is relatively neglected. In the literary criticism, misunderstanding exists in the topic about “humanity and animalism” Humanity is multi-layered, and animalism is the same. From sight of ecology, “Life-orientation” is the essential connotation of humanity. It is our duty to love our lives, to love animal lives and to love all kinds of lives, especially to pay attention to humanistic beautifulness and ugliness in the ecological environmental change.

Attributive clauses are mainly described and explained in terms of semantics and pragmatics in traditional college English teaching, from which arise two shortcomings contributing to the difficulty in Chinese students’ acquisition of this grammar. One is that the connectives such as the relative pronoun and the relative adverb are defined in circular argument; the other is that there are no counterparts to these grammatical terms in Chinese. Consequently, Chinese students either avoid attributive clauses where relative adverbs are involved or output attributive clauses by misusing relative pronouns. If viewed from the perspective of morpho-syntax, which, together with semantics and pragmatics, constitutes a linguistic analysis system, the use of attributive clauses in fact is a practical approach to repetition avoidance in English. Hereby, Chinese learners would make better sense of attributive clauses by taking repetition avoidance as a key hint for insight and also would make more natural sentences by taking attributive clauses as a key reference. This approach to the acquisition of attributive clauses adding variety to college English teaching thus has its theoretical and practical values.
