Objectives To evaluate and analyze the current situation of college students′ body composition, and the writer compares the specific differences of different types of subjects, for providing scientific and reasonable suggestions for students who have unbalanced proportion of body composition, in order to protect and improve the health of university students. Methods A total of 548 students from Jianghan University, including 290 males and 258 females, were tested with the BC-420 body composition tester(Korean production)for their body composition. Results According to BMI, the standard body weight ratio of male and female was equal which are all more than 80%, and the proportion of underweight of female students was higher than that of boys, while the proportion of overweight and obesity was lower than that of male students. According to body fat rate, the ratio of standard health of male students was lower than that of female students, while the proportion of low fat and high fat was higher than that of female students, and there were a few obese students. According to BMI together with body fat rate, the ratio of standard and emaciated of male students were lower than the female students, and the other types were higher than the female students. Conclusion The body composition of university students is in a normal distribution, there is a certain proportion of students body composition in non standard range, among them, male students with the low body fat and obesity phenomenon is more prominent, the female stu.dents with the thin, low body fat phenomenon is more prominent, and the situation of male students is worse than that of female students. It is worthy of attention and further study for college students suffer.
