Research and Application of Biocompatibility Carrier for Sustained-Release of Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2

Abstract: Bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP-2)is a transforming factor and is a multifunctional growth factor,which plays an important role in cell proliferation,differentiation,migration and reconstruction. BMP- 2 is an important stimulative factor of bone repairing in the clinic application. However,BMP-2 is unstable in vivo,and one common problem is the burst release at very early stages without the protection of a carrier. The growth and differentiation of bone are dynamic processes. Therefore,a controllable release carrier is needed to prevent the burst release. In this paper,we described four controllable release carriers of BMP-2,including hydrogel and microcapsule,layer-bylayer self-assembly(LbL),surface micro processing of titanium and electrospinning.
