Abstract: The pomelo peel, which is rich in lignin, cellulose, polysaccharide and pectin, etc. ,has functional interactions with heavy metals,it can be used as adsorbent for heavy metal ions. In this study, the best modification processing method for pomelo peel powder was chosen through the comparison of adsorption behaviors to Pb(Ⅱ)ions with unmodified, alkalization modified, esterification modified and chitosan crosslinking treated pomelo peel powder. The optimal adsorption conditions of the modified adsorbent were explored in different adsorption conditions such as adsorption time, adsorption temperature, initial concentration of Pb(Ⅱ)ions,pH level and dosage of adsorbent. The adsorption kinetics characteristics of adsorbent were further studied. The results showed that the most suitable conditions for adsorbing Pb(Ⅱ)ions were alkalization modified pomelo peel powder with dosage of 10 g/L at pH 4-6,with absorbing time of 60 min and initial concentration of Pb(Ⅱ)ions as 140 mg/L. The adsorption rate reached more than 92%. The adsorption kinetics equation is:t / qt = 0. 207 3 + 0. 103 5 t .
