Abstract: Tree peony is a traditional medicinal and ornamental plant，it has been also considered as an oil- utilized plant in recent years. This paper introduces the germplasm resources and the distribution of ′Fengdan′ which is a main variety of oil peony，and summarizes the molecular breeding and traditional breeding of oil peony. At last，the author looks into the future for the breeding trend of oil peony. The study can provide references for popularization and further breeding research of oil peony.
