Abstract: Mainly in view of the present half automation state of the rope-making industry，raises a automation reconstruction scheme of the rope-making machinery，introduces a design project of rope coiling machine based on PLC and servo motor control，and presents a software and hardware design of electric part of string coiling machine in details，then focuses on the servo motor's application on the coiling head's position control of the rope coiling machine. The advantages of the machine are rope-making process more flexible，users' operation more simple，modifying process parameters easier，the design upgrades the producing efficiency.
