Application of Nickel Hydroxide-Based Materials in Supercapacitors

Abstract: Due to its low cost,rich sources,environmental friendliness,and huge specific capacitance, nickel hydroxide has widely been investigated as an electrode material in pseudocapacitance. Herein,we introduced some preparation methods of the Ni(OH)2 electrode and analyzed the strength and weakness of these methods. At the same time,the application of Ni(OH)2 and its composite electrode materials(including Ni(OH)2/other metal hydroxides/oxides,Ni(OH)2/carbon materials,and Ni(OH)2/conductive polymers)in the supercapacitors were reviewed,and the influence of the morphology, microstructure,and conductivity on the electrochemical performance of the supercapacitor was discussed.
