Abstract: The laser ranging system based on infrared laser and digital monocular camera was investigated. This system mainly performed the location information processing on the laser spot image collected by laser triangulation method in order to acquire the range information. The experimental results showed that the measurement of the ranging system could detected the distance varied from 2 - 100 cm，and it could measure both the distance and the size of the object，with a measurement accuracy reaching millimeter level.
