Abstract: The eutrophication problems of Lianhua lake have caused extensive concern of various departments in Caidian District of Wuhan since the past few decades. To understand the nutrientsubstance content in sediment, monitored the content of nitrogen and phosphorus in sediment in the lake, and the level of pollution was evaluated by single-item indexes. The results showed that high-levels of total nitrogen(TN)and total phosphorus(TP)were observed in sediment in Lianhua lake. The total nitrogen and total phosphorus content were 0. 130%~0. 170% and 0.074 4%~0. 137% . The single-item indexes results showed the high-level pollution in sediments in Lianhua lake.
