Abstract: The effects of different pre-sowing treatments and sowing methods on the germination of Phyllostachys edulis seeds and the effects of different water quality and aeration treatments on seedlings' growth were studied by indoor controlled hydroponics methods. The results showed it was best that Phyllostachys edulis seeds were soaked in 40 ℃ water overnight, peeled, soaked with 75% alcohol for 5-10 s, soaked and disinfected with 10% NaClO for 20 minutes, washed with deionized water for 6-8 times and then planted into vermiculite, the germination rate could reach 61. 76% and there was no pollution during germination. The water culture of double-filtered water or sterile water was used as the water quality, the contamination rate of Phyllostachys edulis seedlings was the lowest under the condition of aeration and filter disk filters, but there were no significant effects of the oxygenation on leaf number, seedlings height and both aboveground and underground biomass of Phyllostachys edulis seedlings.
