Abstract: The responses of vegetable peas on neutral salt NaCl and alkaline salt NaHCO3 stresses during seed germination with gradient concentrations of NaCl and NaHCO3 solution were studied in this paper. The results showed that the seed germination and seedling growth of vegetable pea were inhibited while the concentration of NaHCO3 solution reached 25 mmol/L;moreover,the seeds could not germinate when the concentration of NaHCO3 solution was 200 mmol/L;however,the coefficient of seed vigor was increasing, and the growths of pea seedling main root and bud were promoted while the concentration of NaCl solution was 25 mmol/L,the seed germination and seedling growth of vegetable pea were not inhibited until the concentration of NaCl solution over 100 mmol/L. Therefore, the alkaline salt NaHCO3 is more obvious than the neutral salt NaCl to inhibit the vegetable pea germination;the NaHCO3 has more obvious effect on vegetable pea cultivation when it accumulates in soil.
