Abstract: Two kinds of maize seeds were treated by different salinity, and the effects of salt stress on seed germination and seedling growth of maize were studied. The results showed that, different salinity density had different inhibition effects on the germination rate, plant height, fresh weight, the length of leaf, chlorophyll content and MDA content, different maize had different response. From the indicators, when the salinity density was above 30 mmol/L,the both kinds of maize showed negative growth effect compared with the control, which suggested that the both kinds of maize were not resistant to salt, but under the same salinity concentration, the salt damage degree of Huatian corn was less than that of NO.3 Xiyu, which showed NO. 3 Xiyu was more sensitive to salt stress.
