Abstract: Objective Gastric antral vascular ectasia(GAVE)is an uncommon but important upper gastrointestinal bleeding disorder. This study aims to improve clinicians′ ability to distinguish and treat GAVE. Methods We analyzed the clinical data of a patient with GAVE and reviewed the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment methods of GAVE based on the existing literature data. Results The elderly female patient, characterized endoscopically by watermelon stomach, presented with moderate to severe anemia and required repeated blood transfusions. Conclusion Argon plasma coagulation (APC) is currently the most widely used clinical method for treating GAVE,which has the advantages of low cost, easy operation, and safe, but it often requires multiple treatments to achieve a clinical cure.
