Abstract: In promoting the construction of a service-oriented government,an important issue of future rural old-age service is how to tackle with the aging of population. Based on the 2015 CGSS data, the impact of satisfaction with government work on the old-age support ideas of quasi-elderly as well as the action mechanism are explored by utilizing the Principal Component Analysis, the logit model, and the IVProbit. It is discovered that in the rural region, the quasi-elderly has a stronger preference for family care than the contemporary aged people, while the aged has a stronger preference for social service than the contemporary quasi-elderly;in terms of compound provision for the aged, there is no obvious difference between the two groups. The regression results show that the family care idea of the quasi-elderly displays a weakening effect in relation to satisfaction with government public service;when political intervene attitude is taken as an instrumental variable to deal with endogeneity,it is found that the weakening effect of satisfaction with public service on the idea of family care is underestimated;the degrees of satisfaction with government administrative capacity and the satisfaction with public security have no eminent influence on the old-age support ideas of the quasi-elderly. The results of mediating effect test show that the sense of happiness in life has an eminent partial mediating effect on the weakening effect of satisfaction with government public service on the family care idea of the quasi-elderly.
