Abstract: Tetrabromobisphenol A(TBBPA)is a widely used brominated flame retardant with certain toxicity, which is a potential persistent organic pollutants(POPs). TBBPA is abundant in the environment and may adversely affect human health. This article mainly describes the metabolic transformation of TBBPA in mammalian rodent organ tissues, its acute toxicity to animals, endocrine disrupting effects, organ toxicity and so on. The results showed that a certain amount of TBBPA attenuated the body weight of the mice,it caused obvious damage to the liver, kidney and lung organs, and led to death with excessive amount. TBBPA affects the expression of triiodothyronine (T3),thyroxine(T4)and protein CD25,it causes thyroxine secretion and T cell proliferation block, makes endocrine imbalance, neuronal damage and immune function reduction.
