Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of evidence- based nursing in prevention of ventilator associated pneumonia（VAP）. Methods Random sampling was used to recruit 60 patients underwent mechanical ventilation in respiratory department from January to March，2016. 32 patients were divided into trial group with evidence- based nursing and 28 into control group with routine nursing care. Intervention measures mainly included semi-recumbent position（raising the head of bed to 30° - 45°），postpyloric nutrition，and removal of subglottic secretions when necessary. Results The incidence and mortality of VAP were lower in the trial group than those in the control group. Conclusion Evidencebased nursing can effectively reduce the incidence of VAP and improve the quality of nursing.
