Abstract: The flowering plant species， ornamental period， flower color and growth state were investigated on the spot of Jianghan University from April 2014 to April 2015. The investigation results reveal that there are about 97 kinds of flowering species，including 33 kinds of flowering arbors，35 kinds of flowering shrubs，one kind of vine，24 kinds of herb flowers and four kinds of water flowers. Most flowering species blossom in spring and summer. With combination of planting form and landscape design to analyse the landscape effect，and discuss the disadvantage of application of flowering plants，the suggestions were proposed on this basis.
