Map Publication and Business Features ofWuchang Territory Society in Late Qing Dynasty

Abstract: Established in 1896, Wuchang Territory society was the earliest folk natural science society in Hubei area as well as the first geography society in China. It translated and printed a large number of foreign maps, and by adopting the advanced Western mapping and printing techniques, it edited and published over 700 Chinese and foreign maps, thus held an important position in the map history of the late Qing Dynasty and had distinct features and considerable scientific value. It serves as a helpful reference for the development of the contemporary geography society.
