Abstract: Dan Zhu took the view that Zuo Zhuan was completed by scholars in later ages. Zhao Kuang put forward definitely “ The one surnamed Zuo was not Zuo Qiuming”, negating the assertion that the book was compiled by the latter. In the two Song Dynasties opinions succeeding to Dan’s and Zhao’s rose like bees in swarms. The proposition that Zuo Zhuan was completed during the period of Warring States prevailed, with Ye Mengde, Zheng Qiao and Wan Jianchun as the representatives. Further investigations were conducted in the Yuan and the Qing Dynasties. Then despite Kangxi’s royal decision that Zuo Qiuming was the author. Some scholars still stood on the side of the Warring States proposition, which gradually became dominant in educational circles after the 1911 revolution. New and extended methods and ways of demonstrations were not just a few. Conclusions were reached on the period of Warring States, still some differences existed as to the years and the writers.
