Abstract: As to current college students，their humanistic quality and ability level to use their m ther tongue are notsatisfactory，the reason can be attributed to the lack o funiversity education in the mother tongue and the lack of native language proficiency test，and the negative impact of the social environm ent. Therefore，it is very necessary to strengthen the university education in the mother tongue. To help the college students to enhance their ability to use their mother tongue ，we must pay attention to and make full use of the characteristics of Chinese and Chinese education，like that of tools，humanities，and modern features，to improve the quality and effectiveness of university education in the mother tongue，to help them to promote their mother tongue awareness，to enhance their ability to use their mother tongue and to improve their humanistic quality.
