Abstract: The two possibilities in the governing scope ofbei in the passive sentence-pattern: “NP1bei+NP2+VP1+VP2” cause the existence of two grammatical relations in “bei+NP2+VP1+VP2”. When beigoverns “VP1” only, “bei+NP2+VP1+VP2” is a structure of successive predicates; when bei governs boty “VP1” and “VP2”, “bei+NP2+VP1+VP2”is of an endocentric adverbial structure. Different semantic relations of agentive and objective also exist between “NP1” “NP2” and “VP1” “VP2” of the above-mentioned structures.
