Abstract: China’s rural society has experienced constant development and changes since the 1950s,and the implementation of rural policies such as the people’s commune, contract responsibility system, and land-transfer system was inevitably a significant impact on farmers’minds. Contemporary writers have faithfully recorded the inner conflicts of farmers in these vortices, and the psychological description of farmers has also become an important part of contemporary Chinese novels. Li Peifu is a Central Plains writer and his farmer writing is an outstanding representative. He has not only presented the unique rural customs of the Central Plains, but also systematically depicted the psychological changes of farmers in different periods. The psychology of farmers in the Central Plains, whether in terms of land consciousness, ethical thoughts,or urban and rural concepts, varies greatly as the times change. Its evolution reflects the complex historical change.
