Abstract: As the central concept of heart-mind Confucianism, shendu(慎独)appeared in many Confu?cian classics. People’s interpretation of shendu gradually went to the depth and eventually to independent body(独体),which is not closed, but open, dynamic, divine, and presupposes the possibility of“all things being one”. The internalization and externalization of the independent body is the foundation of“all thins being one”. Shendu, both mystical and rational,is a strict systematic theory of self-cultivation. The connectivity between the Confucian shendu and“all things being one”may provide a beneficial reference for human beings to take care of themselves and all beings under heaven.
Key words: original Confucianism, Shendu, all things being one, connectivity, mysticism
