Abstract: Based on the 2002-2008 provincial panel data, this paper measures the quality of China’s 31-province(city)export products, conducts a statistical analysis on the spatial autocorrelation of their quality, and, using spatial panel econometric model, studies empirically the effects of the generalized infrastructure on the quality of export products under the conditions of spatial autocorrelation. The results show that the quality of export products has a spatial cluster phenomenon, which has a spatial distribution with Shanghai and Zhejiang at the core and Shaanxi,Gansu,Qinghai and Ningxia at the periphery;Social infrastructure, cultural education in particular,is more influential than economic infrastructure. Not only generalized infrastructure in the province but also that in neighboring provinces(city)have significant positive effects on the quality of export products. This shows that,to enhance the quality of export products and narrow regional differences, not only should one province improve its own infrastructure,it should also speed up interregional integrated construction and accelerate match- making and cooperation between the core and the periphery regions.

Key words: economic infrastructure, social infrastructure, quality of export products, spatial econometrics
