Abstract: As the most simple and most direct expression style of intellectuals, prose came into another climax in 1990s.The prose wave showed that through prose writing , intellectuals confirmed their self-identity, and gave chance to marginalized literature to see a glimmer of hope with the possible direction to go. After almost a century of ups and downs, through the history vicissitudes of twentieth-century changes in China, the Older Generation of Intellectuals in 1990s set an elders-scholars-wise style with the attitude of tolerance and truth, the discovery of intellectual and smart, the expression of intelligent and calm , enhance the overall quality of prose in 1990s.
