Abstract: Chinese movies as media ought to take up the task of practicing and disseminating the core values of Chinese socialism and expressing and conveying the“spirit of China”；the Chinese new mainstream blockbusters can surely do the best job and can be most easily accepted by audiences. They interpret the“spirit of China”mainly in two aspects：the national spirit through movies depicting major events in the revolutionary history；the spirit of the times through military action movies. The strategy of ubiquitous emotion，movie industry’s esthetic signifying mechanisms，and the“fresh meat”（teenage actors/actress）esthetics are the major contributors to these movies’effective interpretation of the“spirit of China”，a good example of integrating movie appreciation and accepting and disseminating the spirit.
