Abstract: Active carbon is a carbon material which is made from carbonaceous material，it has the feature of unprimitive internal void structure，big specific surface area，strong adsorption capability，it can be used as adsorption material and catalyst carrier，and used extensively in industrial and agricultural production. Summarizes the physicochemical property of active carbon，introduces the preparation meterial，preparation method，modification，application in each domain of active carbon detailedly，and introduces the work of the author in this field.
