Abstract: University student dormitory is an important place for the work of the Party’s development and ideological political education among the students, but it is often neglected as a education place for the university student work. By analyzing the findings made from the questionnaires about the function of the student Party members in the dormitory, they are generally active and progressive in behavior in the dormitory, and their pioneering roles are acknowledged by the other students. But roles played by part of the Party members are poorly evaluated by the non-party members. Their pioneering function in the dormitory is not acknowledged. The reasons for this are their weak consciousness of models, being short of activeness, few chances of practical activity taking service as subject made by the basic Party organizations, inefficiency of effective monitoring and encouraging mechanisms, etc. Thus to probe into the methods for the Party members to make the effective function in the dormitory, and the pioneering and modeling function played by the Student Party members are inevitable choice for the ideological political work for the university student Party members in the new era.
