Abstract: The grammaticle structure of “You sprite of a + term of person”,which is nowadays rarely seen,frequently appears in the vernacular novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties as represented by Jin-Ping-Mei,and which is applied to expressing displeasure,rebuke or addressing someone.“You sprite of a” in the structure is extended in meaning from “rebuke”,and has a grammaticized nature.As it belongs to dialectical slang,popular in vernacular novels and suitable for the need of special language environment,this structure is pragmatically confined.
