摘要： 光绪二十二年(1896)成立的武昌舆地学会是荆楚地区最早的一家民间自然科学学会,也是中国第一个地理学会。该会译印了大量的外国地图,并用西方先进的测绘方法和印刷技术编制出版了700余幅中外地图,在晚清地图学史上占据举足轻重的地位,具有鲜明的特色和较高的科学价值。武昌舆地学会对当代地理学会的发展提供了历史借鉴。

Abstract: Established in 1896, Wuchang Territory society was the earliest folk natural science society in Hubei area as well as the first geography society in China. It translated and printed a large number of foreign maps, and by adopting the advanced Western mapping and printing techniques, it edited and published over 700 Chinese and foreign maps, thus held an important position in the map history of the late Qing Dynasty and had distinct features and considerable scientific value. It serves as a helpful reference for the development of the contemporary geography society.
