Abstract: In his long career of creation, Milosz has manifested his constant theme of time and salvation. In the face of all the things such as change, destruction, killing and death that time brings, he feels terrified, puzzled, sad and even incapable of doing anything. But he never forgets, nor does he ever give up his duty of a poet. All he is to do is to try his best to restore the connection of the present with the past. What he has in mind is not only to expose the crimes but also to enquire into the history of the 20th century and the good and bad of human nature. That is why there in his poems are so many enquiries, incessant pensees, self-reproach and even penitence.
