摘要： 公共标示语是现代社会生活的一部分，与人们的生活密切相关。标示语的英译不仅影响实际交流，而且影响国家形象。公共标示语英译失当的原因，恐怕还不仅仅在于翻译中技术层面的问题，而是基本的语言问题和态度问题，作为一种传播媒介，公共标示语的翻译，应该采取审慎严谨的态度。

Abstract: Placards have become a part of contemporary social life.It maintain close ties with the people’s life. Translating the placards from Chinese into English not only influences real communication, but also involves country’s image. To examine the cause of flaws in English translations of Chinese placards, it’s not only a problem of technique scope, but also a problem of basic language and attitude. As an information media, to translate placards, there must be a cautious and rigorous attitude.
