摘要: 相较于印刷媒介,中国早期电影字幕的“文白转型”具有独特的内在运行机制。除了“五四”知识精英的语体观念外,电影字幕的语体选择还受到了诸如胶片成本、观众接受度、电影叙事范式等技术条件和媒介特性的制约,而呈现出更秉持实用主义原则和更注重大众传播效果的特点。早期电影字幕深度参与了汉语的现代性建构,对此进行研究不仅有助于重新审视汉语现代化历程,还可为数字时代语言实践提供历史借鉴,从而推动建构开放规范、多元包容且表达清晰的现代汉语体系。

Abstract: Abstract:Compared with print media,early Chinese film subtitling has a unique internal operation mechanism when the classical Chinese is replaced by the vernacular. In addition to the stylistic concerns of the May Fourth intellectual elites,the choice of style for film subtitles is also constrained by technical conditions and media characteristics such as film production costs,audience acceptance,and film narrative paradigms. It follows a more pragmatic approach and focuses more on the effect of mass communication. Early film subtitles have deeply contributed to the modernization process of the Chinese language. The research on it not only helps to re-examine the process of Chinese language modernization,but also provides historical references for language practice in the digital age. Thereby,it can promote the construction of a modern Chinese language system that is open,standardized,diverse,inclusive,and clear in expression.
