Abstract: Objective Complex and atypical clinical manifestations of lumbar disc herniation combined with hip disease often lead to misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis. In this paper， the diagnosis and treatment process of a patient with lumbar disc herniation（LDH） complicated with transient osteoporosis of the hip joint was reported and the relevant literature was analyzed to summarize the relevant diagnosis and treatment experience. Methods The diagnosis and treatment process of a patient with TOH was reported. The etiology，diagnosis，and treatment of the disease were reviewed in combination with relevant literature. ResultsSymptoms of the two clinical diseases shared great similarities. Although the symptoms of the two clinical diseases improved to a certain extent after treatment，they did not disappear completely. The authors considered that the two diseases were related to the clinical manifestations of the patients，and there may be a superimposed effect in terms of severity. Conclusion The author observes that when TOH and LDH exist at the same time，the disease′s damage to patients may be magnified，and careful physical examination and objective imaging data are very important. The importance of imaging examination should not be overemphasized and the physical examination should not be ignored in the process of clinical diagnosis and treatment. Otherwise，missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis may occur.
